Streaming services are not going to become the new bread & butter for artists (I'll do another blog post in the future breaking down payment structures for musicians from each different service), but today's post focuses on usability for the consumer, which in my opinion is the deciding factor in which service most users prefer.
NEW MUSIC TUESDAY, EP. 1
I'm going to try and start posting little snippets every Tuesday about the new music I'm currently loving. In the music world, Tuesday is the day for new releases, but rather than just focusing my attention on what's new, I'm gonna tell you all hopefully about artists/albums that I've been listening to as well, new releases or not. This week, I'm picking two artists: Twin Forks, and KONGOS.
#SXSW14
Last year was my very first time in Austin for SXSW, and it was more or less an accident. I had bought a plane ticket with the intentions of just going to see what I could see. A last minute phone call from my boys in Air Dubai guaranteed me an exciting week when they asked me to TM (Tour Manage) for them, and from there everything was set. SXSW 2013 was easily one of the most fun weeks of my life. The schedule was grueling, the work even more so, but it was incredible. I was in a city filled with people who did what I did. All the big wigs I'd studied, the people I admired, they were all within a 4 mile radius. And there was me: caught smack in the middle of it all.
Californiaah: San Fran and Ventura
The San Fran date felt like a fairly small venue compared to what we’re used to, but the crazy thing was that our day in San Fran was SOLD OUT! 21,000 people were lined up that morning to come in and watch bands play - I had no idea how they’d all fit! The line for the gates went out and around the show in the rest of the parking lot, across a bridge over the water, and down and around the WHOLE baseball field! It was insane! I tried to take some photos for reference, but I don’t know if anything will do it justice to the sheer mass of people there were waiting to get into the show that day.
